about

Recorded between 2002 and 2004, firstly in Edinburgh with my Yamaha RM1X and Fostex D80, with Marion Kenny on flutes (Raingods) Paul Rae on bouzouki (Whisky Boat, Raingods) John McKrell on bass and guitar (Raingods, Pecking), Bob Hilary on guitar (Wild is the Wind) Anoushka vocals (Wild is the Wind) Then moving to France with Maya and Manar (Montpellier) on vocals (Name Your Price) Pascal on guitar (Insects don’t know)

Featuring some anglo French humour “Johnny Marr” from “J’en ai marre” translates as “I’ve had enough” I didn’t know that Johnny Marr actually existed, I also didn’t know about Tom Waits when I wrote Raingods (not Raindogs) which I later grew to love. Raingods was inspired by a crazy sub story in one of Douglas Adams’ books (RIP) in which a man spent his life being rained on and cataloguing the time and dates and types of rain, utterly miserable the whole time, whereas all the clouds wanted to do was love and cherish their master by showering him with love. Whisky boat is a mix of 2 main samples, Paul Rae, who at the time would happily play his hypnotic doodlings on his bouzouki for hours on end into my recorder so that I could later hunt for samples, and a field recording of Tibetan musicians recorded by Aynlsey Law. The original Moy Moy was completely different to the later Reflectionz version but I had always preferred this one, it vaguely reminded me of some music that I had one heard but never found again.

This album was pressed at home on a few different occasions with home printed CD covers, it had various names, covers and various track listings, some of them have since appeared on YouTube.

Demo recordings 2001 - 2004 which were later redone in Reflections, some of the tracks were started in Edinburgh around 2001 recording musicians like Paul Rae (Bouzouki) and Marie Kenny (flute), John McKrel (guitar + bass) l later relocating to Montpellier France the tracks continued to evolve and featured some French musicians like Pascal (sorry no last name!) (Guitar)
